Lavender from Eveline

It has been more than 15 years since our first trip to Provence. After such a long time, some things have changed, some have stayed the same and many new have come in our way. We have abandoned our good old Honeyjams and introduced the lovely couple of Lavender Dandy and Manon. But one thing will never change – lavender and our love of it.

The hills of Vaucluse

We would not be able to cultivate our love of lavender without somebody cultivating the lavender for us. And that someone is our friend Eveline and her family. Without any doubt, this farmer from the village of Sault, located in the Vaucluse mountain range, is able to produce the best lavender in large quantities!

Why do we write about it? Because Eveline‘s family have been growing lavender for six generations and their fields cover the area of 80 acres, out of which lavender takes 50 acres! Although lavender is their most significant crop, they also grow spelt, figs and strawberries in smaller quantities. What is more, they manage to do without chemistry, which gives us unlimited possibilities in our lavender processing.

Sault

Eveline‘s farm lies where the Vaucluse Mountains meet the Provence Alps and Mont Ventoux (almost 2000 m) looks down on everything around. It is considered a real challenge for cyclists. The way up is lined with lavender and cedars, further up there is only barren land decimated by neverending wind, which gave the mountain its name.

Not far from Mont Ventoux, there is a lovely village of Sault, the home of Eveline, a place in the middle of pure nature, standing on a limestone subsurface, with omnipresent scent of lavender grown all around it.

Believe us when we say that there is no better place to drink wine than below Mont Ventoux.
